Have you heard of CBS 11 TV before? CBS 11 is a television station in the United States and serving the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The station is owned by the CBS Television stations subsidiary of ViacomCBS as part of a duopoly with independent station KTXA (channel 21) also licensed to Fort Worth.
Channel 11 was also the flagship station of Saturday Night wrestling a highly popular Dallas pro wrestling show and aired a two-hour Saturday night wrestling program titled Championship sports.
Channel 11 news Dallas also owns a secondary studio exclusively dedicated to the newscast and live stream, which also happens to house Dallas Bureau for both channels for CBS News and advertising sales offices. The transmitter facility of the station lies at Tar Road, Cedar Hill.
CBS 11 TV Schedule History
Channel 11 as KFJZ, first signed on the air at 2:30 P.M on September 11, 1955, after lunch ceremony culminating in Fort Worth oilman Sid Richardson flipping the ceremonial switch to activate the transmitter.
It was the first independent station to sign on in Texas the fourth television station to sign on in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex which signed on the air on September 29, 1948.
Affiliate KBTV which debuted on September 17, 1949, and CBS affiliate KRLD-TV and the first to debut in the market since the FCC’s 1952 lifting of a four-year freeze on new applications for television station licenses. During the late 1950s, the station was briefly affiliated with the NTA Film Network.
In 1960, the station’s original owners sold channel 11 to NAFI Telecasting Corporation (who also owned Chris-Craft industries at that time) who later changed the call letters to the current KTVT.
